Board of Water Supply to Clean Reservoir in Hawaii Loa Ridge

HONOLULU – Beginning Monday, June 1, 2020 through the end of the week, the Board of Water Supply (BWS) will be working to clean a reservoir in the Hawaii Loa Ridge area. During this period, the reservoir will be shut off from supplying water and residents between Maono Loop and Moaniala Street are asked to please use water for essential needs only (cooking, drinking, and personal hygiene) until further notice. The reservoir will be flushed using a pump and other equipment located at the BWS facility located at 430 Pu’uikena Drive. There will be noise overnight from the pump which will impact residents close to the facility. The BWS apologizes for the inconvenience and appreciates the community’s patience while the work is being done.

After the work is completed, customers may experience an elevated chlorine taste in the water. The elevated levels are not harmful and the water will be safe to drink.

This work is related to a May 18, 2020 water system issue that had impacted parts of Kalani Iki and Waialae Iki. Questions and comments may be directed to the BWS 24/7 trouble line at 748-5000, extension 1.
